Shiloh Strong is a filmmaker, writer, and the founder of Ashes to Films, a nonprofit dedicated to helping creatives rebuild their lives through storytelling after disaster. With more than thirty years of experience in the entertainment industry—and as a member of the DGA, WGA, and SAG-AFTRA—he brings a deep, multi-disciplinary understanding of how stories come to life.
His career includes directing award-winning short films, selling screenplays and pilots to major studios including Lionsgate, LD Entertainment, Point Grey Pictures, and Amazon Studios, and serving as a resident director on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World. Shiloh’s work blends craft, character, and emotional resonance, shaped by a lifetime inside the creative process.
Today, he leads Ashes to Films while continuing to direct and develop scripted projects, creating spaces where artists can take risks, connect, and transform their lived experiences into powerful stories.
Telling Stories.
Shiloh’s work is rooted in character, honesty, and the unexpected places where humor and humanity overlap. He gravitates toward stories that explore relationships, identity, and the strange, messy, meaningful ways people collide with each other.
With experience across writing, directing, acting, and producing, he brings a 360-degree understanding of how a moment lands on screen. Shiloh’s creative approach is collaborative and actor-focused, shaped by years of working on sets of every scale. He loves building worlds, guiding performances, and finding the heartbeat of a scene - whether it’s dramatic, comedic, or somewhere in between.
For him, storytelling is about connection: making people feel something real, surprising them, making them laugh and leaving them with something that lingers after the credits.
Elsewhere.
Shiloh grew up among the redwoods of Northern California and still draws energy from nature, surf, and the quiet moments between projects. Now based in Santa Monica, he finds clarity in the ocean, renewal in the outdoors, and a sense of play in the hands-on process of building and making things. These rhythms—nature, movement, and craft—fuel his creative life and keep him grounded as he moves between storytelling, community work, and filmmaking.
